Why is Bati mango not popular? Beauty and maturity are the key

According to China Economic Net, from January to September 2021, Pakistan exported 37.4 tons of fresh mango and dried mango to China, an increase of 10 times over the same period last year. Although the growth rate is fast, most of China’s mango imports come from Southeast Asian countries, and Pakistan’s mango accounts for less than 0.36% of China’s total mango imports.
The mangoes exported by Pakistan to China are mainly sindhri varieties. The price of 4.5kg mangoes in the Chinese market is 168 yuan, and the price of 2.5kg mangoes is 98 yuan, equivalent to 40 yuan / kg. In contrast, mangoes exported from Australia and Peru to China in 5kg can sell for 300-400 yuan, which is much higher than that of Pakistan, but mangoes are very popular.
In this regard, an insider from xinrongmao said that price is not a problem, quality is the key. Australian mangoes are highly industrialized. When they are transported to China, mangoes are just ripe and of high quality. The maturity of mangoes from Pakistan is different when they are transported to China, and the appearance and packaging of mangoes are also constraints. Ensuring maturity and appearance is the key to improving sales.
In addition to packaging and quality, bamang also faces the problems of preservation and transportation. At present, due to the small export volume of a single batch to China, it is difficult to bear the shipping containers with modified atmosphere preservation system. Under normal storage conditions, the shelf life is only more than 20 days. Considering the sales period, it is mainly sent to China by air.
Pakistan is the third largest exporter of mangoes in the world. The supply period of mangoes can be as long as 5-6 months, and they are listed intensively from May to August every year. The listing seasons of Hainan mango and Southeast Asian mango in China are mostly concentrated from January to may, and only Sichuan Panzhihua mango and bamang mango are in the same period. Therefore, Pakistan mango is in the off-season of global mango supply when it matures, so it has a comparative advantage in time.
