National vegetable prices have risen sharply, and it will take time to fall back

Since the National Day holiday, the national vegetable price has increased significantly. According to the statistics of the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas, in October (to 18th), the national average wholesale price of 28 kinds of vegetables under key monitoring was 4.87 yuan per kilogram, an increase of 8.7% over the end of September and 16.8% over the same period in recent three years. Among them, the average prices of cucumber, zucchini, white radish and spinach increased by 65.5%, 36.3%, 30.7% and 26.5% respectively compared with the previous month. Relatively speaking, the prices of durable storage and transportation vegetables remained stable.
The recent abnormal jump in vegetable prices is mainly affected by rainfall and low temperature. The rainfall in this autumn is obviously more than that in the whole year. Especially after late September, there is a large-scale continuous rainfall in the north, and the temperature drops rapidly. Affected by large-scale and long-term continuous rainfall, many vegetable fields in northern vegetable producing areas such as Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Hebei, Shanxi and Shaanxi have been flooded. Vegetables planted in the open field used to be harvested mechanically, but now they can only be harvested manually due to ponding. The cost of vegetable harvesting and transportation increased significantly, and the price rose accordingly. Since October, the market volume of fresh and tender vegetables has decreased significantly, the average price of some varieties rose sharply in October, and the overall vegetable price also jumped.
In Xinfadi market in Beijing, the price of fresh and tender vegetables has been high. In particular, the purchase price of small varieties of leafy vegetables such as coriander, fennel, oilwheat, loose leaf lettuce, bitter chrysanthemum, small spinach and Chinese cabbage soared. The average price of the most common Chinese cabbage in northern winter has reached 1.1 yuan / kg, up about 90% from 0.55 yuan / kg in the same period last year. It is expected that the supply shortage of vegetables in the northern region will be difficult to reverse before a new crop of new vegetables comes on the market. Analysts in Xinfadi market said, “Merchants in Xinfadi market were the first to start the transportation of vegetables from the south to the north and from the west to the East. First, they bought cauliflower and broccoli in Gansu, Ningxia and Shaanxi. Now the local cauliflower has been completely purchased; they bought group lettuce, canola and oil wheat vegetables in Yunnan, and now buyers from many places have also bought there, which makes these vegetables in short supply. This week, only cowpeas from Guangxi and Fujian The supply of leeks in Guangdong can still be guaranteed, but buyers from many places also buy there, and the local prices of these vegetables have also been raised. ”
The adverse effects of rainy and low temperature on the supply of vegetables in autumn can be divided into immediate and delayed effects: the immediate effects are mainly the slow growth rate of vegetables and inconvenient harvesting, which can be recovered in a short time; the delayed effects are mainly the damage to the vegetables themselves, such as the damage to the roots and branches, which takes a long time to recover, and some even directly lose the market volume. Therefore, the price of vegetables in the later stage Georgia may continue to rise, especially the prices of some varieties in the affected areas may remain high for some time.
Looking forward to the future, due to the generally high vegetable prices this year and the strong intention of growers to expand their planting, the planting area of summer vegetables in the cold and cool areas of the North has increased year-on-year, and the supply of storage resistant vegetables is sufficient. At present, the area of vegetables in the field in China is about 100 million mu, which is flat and slightly increased year-on-year, and the supply of vegetables in autumn and winter is guaranteed. As usual, after the end of September, the vegetable supply place will move south. According to the feedback from the origin, Vegetables in the southern producing areas are growing well, and most of them can be listed normally on schedule. The connection between the transformation of vegetable supply places in summer and autumn is basically better than that in the same period last year. It is expected that by mid November, southern vegetables in Jiangsu, Yunnan, Fujian and other regions will begin to be listed. These regions will be less affected by the rain, and the tight supply situation will be alleviated to a certain extent, and the vegetable price may fall back to the same level as that in the whole year Period average.
