Malaysia launches the first commercial organic Cat Mountain King plantation

Recently, Malaysian multinational planting and farm management company plantations International announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, United tropical fruit (UTF), officially launched the first and only commercial organic Cat Mountain King plantation in Malaysia.
The plantation is located in Pahang state, Malaysia, covering an area of 100 acres (about 40.5 hectares) with a lease term of 60 years. The nursery is located on the campus of UiTM Pahang state in cooperation with Malaysia’s Mara University of Technology (UiTM) by UTF. It is reported that in addition to UTF planting, the seedlings cultivated in the nursery will also be authorized to the third-party maoshanwang growers in Malaysia, while retaining the complete exclusivity to the export market, so as to make plantations international the only source of 100% organic maoshanwang durian of commercial grade in Asia.
Gareth Cookson, director of operations at plantations international, said, “We are the only company in the market that has invested time and money in R & D and planting real organic durian. Other companies may claim to adopt organic farming methods, but we ensure organic cultivation from the beginning of breeding, so the organic supervision chain of durian has begun before the seedlings are planted.”
