China Laos and China Myanmar ports are about to reopen in batches, and banana exports to China are expected to return to normal

Recently, it is reported on the Internet that the Mohan boten port between China and Laos has begun to receive returning Lao people, and the freight clearance has also begun trial operation. At the same time, Mengding Qingshuihe port and Houqiao gambaidi port on the China Myanmar border will also be reopened.
On November 10, relevant departments of Yunnan Province studied and issued the implementation plan for orderly restoration of customs clearance and freight business at border land ports (channels), which will gradually restore customs clearance and freight business at ports according to port epidemic prevention facilities and equipment, port management and epidemic prevention and control.
The notice points out that each port (channel) will be evaluated in four batches. The first batch will evaluate the ports such as Qingshui River, Mohan highway and Tengchong Houqiao (including Diantan channel). At the same time, the epidemic risk of imported dragon fruit at Hekou highway port and Tianbao port will be evaluated. After the operation is normal and the epidemic risk of Inbound Goods is controllable, the subsequent batch assessment shall be started.
The second batch of ports (channels) with large entry-exit volume of assessed goods, such as buting (including mangman channel), Zhangfeng (including lameng), guanlei port, Menglian (including mangxin channel), Mandong and Mengman. The third batch of assessment is Daluo, Nansan, Yingjiang, Pianma, Yonghe and other ports. The fourth batch of assessment substitutes for Nongdao, Leiyun, Zhongshan, Manghai, mangka, manzhuang and other channels with large import volume of agricultural products.
Affected by the epidemic this year, seven land ports along the China Myanmar border were closed successively from April 7 to July 8. From October 6, the last land border trade port, Qingshuihe port, was also closed. At the beginning of October, the Mohan boten port cargo transportation has been closed for more than one month due to the diagnosis of a representative driver of cross-border cargo transportation at Mohan port on the border between China and Laos.
The closure of the port made it difficult for Laos and Myanmar bananas to leave the customs, and the import supply chain of border trade bananas was interrupted. Coupled with the insufficient supply in domestic planting areas, banana prices experienced a surge in October. Among them, the price of high-quality bananas in Guangxi exceeded 4 yuan / kg, the price of good goods once exceeded 5 yuan / kg, and the price of high-quality bananas in Yunnan also reached 4.5 yuan / kg.
Since around November 10, with the cold weather and the listing of citrus and other fruits, the price of domestic bananas has been stable and has begun to make a normal correction. It is expected that a large number of bananas will soon flow into the domestic market with the resumption of freight transportation at China Laos and China Myanmar ports.
